    Seems to me they are Nhamunda heckels.

    Discus eat sand and needs sand to help them clean digestive system.

    No mate its just standard washed sand

    No need for any special sand for them

    Have come back to discus after a lapse of over twenty years. Used to see fish ike that in the 80's but even then they were not common. Most Heckels I see these days only have dull, partial striations. Those in your tank are first class. Well done!

    I like the colour of the sand in your tank, more natural looking than white, although I like that too. You said it is just normal sand. So if I go to my local gardening supplies and just get sandpit sand will that be ok? I currently have a bb but the glass on the bottom is getting alge spots so I need to cover it.
