    HMMMM? Volume perception

    A 5 x 3 x 2 tank holds 849litres. A 5.5 x 2.5 x 2 tank holds 778litres?

In my head, the water should still be there but distributed differently. But statistically there is a volume difference.

the difference is that with the first you have 1/2 foot x 5 (2.5 square feet)

in the second you have 1/2 foot x 2.5 (1.25 square feet)

Thats the problem with cubic cm's, the relationship isn't obvious, eg a 4x2x2 is around 440L, where as a 4x2.5x1.5 is closer to 415.

Thanks guys. The volume can be deceiving at first thought. Had me confused.

    Cheers
