Alan you need to provide more information for this question to be answered properly. Are you running any canister filters or just using a sponge filter?
What volume of fish do you have in the tank?

My quarantine/breeding tank is filtered using only a sponge filter. So when I do a water change I use water from an already established/cycled tank.

    Hope this helps....

the 20 gl tank has two juvies
and its running on a whisper whith no carbon with the white sleave
and the black sponge thing on it
its been running on my display tank for a while
ive been using aged water 50% daily it dechlorinated and temped of course
hope its not hurting the filter and stessing the fish with my method
when i first put the tank together i used water from the diplay tank
i guess i should use water from the diplay tank from now on

Hi Alan, Main thing to consder is the water paramter of the new stuff going in - not just temp but PH and other parameters as well. make sure everything matches up pretty well. 50% daily w/c is a good start. If you are feeding heavily (with Juvies they LOVE lots of feeds per day ) keep the big w/c's up and you should see those little juvies stack on the size. If your tap water is not up to scratch, age it and it will be heaps better for them - or use the water from the established tank, just make sure that tank is also getting plent of frequent w/c's.
