dont place the lowest level tanks on the floor
purely because it makes using a syphon to drain this difficult
i use overflow waste pipe for the exit point in each tank and then larger bore pipe...

i would guess damaged part of plant leaking the gas
as suggested by rwel
either way not a problem as it is just respired gas escaping

seems to me that it is just trying to blend in with the surroundings
in my mind i would think fish that can choose to be seen or hide will be more secure in the tank , so the hiding places amongst...

450 litres call it 100 gallons, 200 watts so 2 wpg is fine - you could have more or less depending on what else you do
Almost anything with aerial roots ie the ferns , mosses , and then yes...

i would tend to disagree with illusn on this one
as plants are growing they use mostly Nitrogen,Phosphate and Kpotassium... probably in pretty much the same ratio as terrestrial plants

EI doesnt have set quantities
the principles as i understand are to regularly replenish nutrients in the water column and to keep them stable with regular water changing
doing changes twice...

been setting up a fish room and getting to lighting options
anyone know whether simple halogen flood lights would work as well as halides?
they seem much cheaper?
are they just less energy...

in this instance just squeeze old media in front of new media intake to try and aid transition f bacteria to new media faster......

bacterial doubling time can be as short as 24 -36 hrs... all quite variable depending many factors
so depending how many bacteria you moved to the new tank
how much food you provide for those...

levamisol if overdosed is appetite suppressant, appropriate dose is 1.5-2mgs /litre of water

what is your water quality like?
the smlal white nodules within the fin could be lymphocytosis
the area's between the scales are not , and i would agree opportunistic...

filter sand is made to stay moving ie not compact otherwise it wouldnt filter it would clump even in current of pumped water column
cory would easily turn over 3 cms of sot...

an alternative to the pots is stockings with a fertile substrate in... this can be shaped and hidden , also can stick plants in where you like
i thought that sands that didnt compact , ie even...

sand is just rather useless at having any nutrients , so if only wanting sand on the bottom then plants need feeding from something else
options include the water column
fertiliser tablets...

depending on what you are wanting in your fertiliser
i tend to buy dry chempak trace elements and dose as i feel necessary
this contains most of the micronutrients needed
as i feel light,...
