I think the top hole can be plumbed for return water from the sump so u dont have hoses hanging over the back of the tank.

The pnly advice i can give is lower the water level to just above the height of the parents less area for them to get away from the parents

I use 3% peroxide .I put it in a syringe and squirt it onto the algae .Before doing it u need to turn off your filters so it doesnt go anywhere other then where u want it and when it starts to bubble...

Melb waters ph is 7 but I really wouldnt worry about that to much either . My sisters discus breed in water with a ph of 7.8 to 8.0 .So my thoughts are if they are happy they will breed

Blood worms arent really that good for discus they dont have much nutritional value .Your better off looking up Merllyns beefheart mix .Your fish will love u for it .

As a rule melbourne water is quite soft anyway so i dont think it would be needed

The black dots are what is called peppering .All pigeon blood strains are prone to this .Go to the Quick search bar on the top left hand cornerof this page and enter peppering it will bring up alot...
