Ok, so there are now 5 discus. All of them seem to be within about a year of one another in age, but the largest is probably a good 4 1/2-5" while the smallest is in the ballpark of about 2 1/2,...

Hi all-
So as you may remember I'm still a bit of a plebe when it comes to discus. So, I had that one discus who was really runty, not even so small, just sort way down the heirarchy and kind of...

So, I was doing a WC on my 29 gal. marine yesterday when my girlfriend accidentally knocked over the hood I had placed on the floor. She broke the glass casing that the flourescent light sits on.

I named my BGK "Bowie" because, well, he's a knife. But also because there's a Phish song called "David Bowie" that I like a lot.
I named my 11-12" pleco Cheney 'cause he's mean and hides a lot...

Ok, with that in mind, I am going to add a 5th discus to my 55. They're all about 2-3 long right now, pretty young. I've noticed some mild sparring between the two big males, and the female is...

As a marine and discus keeper, I would say discus is a step below saltwater on the overall difficulty level... but that said, I don't even want to think about breeding yet (note my post in water...

Hey all.
So my (tank bred) discus are in a 55 that until the last few days was hanging out around 7.1 PH. The smallest in the group was a little sluggish, so I've lowered it to about 6.8-6.9 and...

Hey all. Would you say it's best to have an odd or even number of discus "schooling" in the tank? For purposes of heirarchies/lowered agression, etc.

They've all been together since the start (and together at my LFS)...
Sometimes they swim top-to-bottom, with the timid one hanging out almost on the substrate, the next smallest above him/her/...

Hi all. I currently have 4 juvenile discus in a 55 gallon tank... I see a distinct pecking order, but one of them seems to be so far down it is outright isolated. I hides a lot, spend most of its...

Hey, buddy. You should check out some of the ridiculous deals they have on tanks and supplies in the Indiana on eBay. I have no idea why, either, but whenever I'm sort of browsing (not like I can...

A piece of lead? 1) what exactly do you mean 2) isn't lead in water like, really, really bad? Isn't that how th Roman Empire fell... and wouldn't it be awful for discus?

Well, in this 2 weeks I've owned them, I've become rather anal. I change about 20% of the tank's water every other day... I would do more but I don't want to mess up the discus or gouramis stress...
