Here is my new layout,it's not set in concrete as i want to add few other plants and do a few little changes as it grows in.
It's freshly planted so you won't see any define areas just one...

Last sunday in perth we had a plant swap day and we all picked up some gooodies.

Sorry for not repling earlier had a few set backs like starting a marine tank and busy in other's areas and the tank was negleted for a bit.

The transfering of the livestock was a nightmare,you think you have it all planned out and always somethig goes wrong.
I ended up putting the fish along with everything else snails seastar...

It is said that alfoil is not good because it difussors? the light not reflect it and it is said that painting the hood white will reflect the light much better

I think snails are part and parcel of having a planted tank.
I found that to keep some sort of control keep on eye on how much you feed your fish so the lfet overs don't go to the snails,that way...

Depending on how many discus you have you might not have to add any ferts or least very small amounts every now an then like once a week.
IMO,i wouldn't put a sword in,it wont do well.

Check your Nitrates,If it's slimy and cover's your plants and wood you could have blue green algea(BGA)
Increase your Nitrate's for one,The lighting is for what size tank? alot of lighting for no...

Yes they will be fine,a little shade will help,plus with that level of lighting you will need CO2,they will grow faster than if you kept them with low lighting.

Yes
You can't do both, add ammonia and fish at the same time,It's one or the other,You put in ammonia or you put fish to produce ammonia nitrite then nitrate.
Once you have cycled then you can add...

If you add SAE now they will more an likely die.
Maybe someone else can help with a chem or something to get rid of it,I don't use any.
You could take the wood out and bleach it,That will kill...

Why are you cycling it for when you are going to put plants in?
The ammonia doesn't help,Lights are not on, are they?
It's not uncommon to get some sort of algea with a new tanks.
Take it out...
