Most likely. Depends on size, how much you feed them, biological load i.e how many other fish, plants etc what type of filtration and water turn over per hour. The heavily stocked tanks you see in...

I've had both. Nothing wrong with them in that size tank. Depending on the quantity of plants and the size of the fish, you have trouble seeing them (they like to hide, particularly the Whiptail)

Matt - I've had a few aquarium shops and online forums comment positively about Purigen (http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/Purigen.html). I won't claim to be an expert in its performance...

Hi Matt - I have been keeping discus for about 8yrs in a planted setup with CO2 etc etc. Couple comments on your proposed setup:-

Very nice!! They look good on their own in a bare-bottom like you've got them. Good luck with the breeding program!!

Hi RDavies - I recently installed an Eheim Reeflex800 on my 6ft planted discus tank. https://www.eheim.com/en_GB/products/technology/uv-sterilizer/reeflexuv As with most Eheim gear it's a bit exy...

Breathed some new life into a corner tank I've had for 8 years that's been empty for a couple years due to work commitments. I've gone for a hardscape to reduce the maintenance and care as I already...

Thanks Matt. Funny enough they got right into it but ate the eggs before hatching. As I'm sitting typing this reply they're pecking at the pipe again and doing the 'shiver' thing. Keep you posted....

Hi DerbyDiscus. I've had discus for 8+ yrs and really enjoyed them. I think they're stunning. Like most domesticated animals, there's various breeds within the species and the bigger and more...

Yes, agree, they're good ones. Particularly like the Blue Diamond. It's hard to get such consistent solid metallic colour with the orange eye.

Thanks Shakti - algae is not particularly slimy. It's not web-like as I've seen with BGA. Only grows on leaves, none on substrate but reasonable amount on glass as depicted in photos. Tank sides...

I had a couple larger sized (approx 300mm) sailfin Plecos for a while in my 6fr planted tank. Not the best for a planted setup. No apparent issues with discus but crapped everywhere and damaged...

Looks great. Couple questions. Are running metal halide or LED? How long are you leaving the lighting on for per day? Rainwater or tapwater? What fertilisers are you using?
Sorry for the many...

I was very lucky to come across them. One of those moments when you don't question the pricing. After 8 yrs keeping discus, I'm finally getting to my ultimate tank arrangement.

I buy aquarium stuff off eBay from China often. Things like bubble counters, CO2 diffusers, solonoids, pH meters etc have been good cheap purchases. I've spent locally on things like LED lighting...
