good idear flaggy but the filter is a sponge filter.i just gave the tank a bit of a clean and man it was dirty so maybe that has help feed the filter.the sugar thing sounds...

i ended up caging the eggs with good results as i now have two week old babies.i removed the cage once they started to free swim ond the cone not long after that.as far as the filter goes...
