If you have just regular fish in your tanks copper wont be a problem. It's not good for crustatia, armored, or scaless fish.

I would say your setup is pretty simple and simple is easy. You've kept your substrate thin which helps tremendously. possibly by adding a fish that likes to stir in the sand would help but I think...

Just a side note. A fixed chemistry outside of your fishes wild parameters is going to be a lot better then an unstable chemicaly induced pH drop. Fish do much better in a steep water chemistry...

I concure. With our stingrays we inject it into worms with a syringe however for you it might be easier to stick some on a blood worm and dangle it above the water with a tooth pick or feeding...
