I'd say easily, i run one on my 4x2x2 and is perfect as it has constant water passing through it I'd say its more effective than your standard heater at spreading the heat around,

yes waterproof encaps available and yes you need different encaps compared to t8, tulip leads are available (waterproof encaps with 1/3m leads on them) i prefer doing it myself though,

Pearling is a result of total saturation of oxygen in the water along with high co2 levels and good conditioning and growth of your plants as the water is full of O2 it cannot dissolve in the water...
