Right on Ben.
The easiest items to measure power consumption on are the persistently on devices filters, pumps, powerheads, lights UV Strerilizers etc etc

BY your calcs if a 300W heater was on 24hrs straight it would consume 72c per day.
Thats an unlikely scenario, unless the heater is jammed on.

I was wondering with your overflow setup is it really noisey?
I'm looking at setting up something in my house and noise is a concern because it will be in a room adjacent to a bedroom....

Hi Otto,
A good option is to insulate the barrel well. That will save heating
Another suggestion re your roof cavity.
Have you considered putting insulation foil attached to your rafters?...

Hi Otoo,
I assume you have a heater in there as well?
If so then quite likely with a big airstone and a heater the water will circulate enough.

Definitely a beautiful fish.

I forgot to say I've got 2 15cm blue diamonds in the tank and they are fine.
I bought a pair of red melons about 4 months ago and I lost 1 7 weeks ago with the same symptoms....
No other fish...
