:D Nice work Gilles! :D
One of the great things about electronics is that you are usually limited only by your imagination.
I take it by looking at the photo's, they are dimming ballasts?

I agree.
I also very much doubt you are going to find someone in Canberra to build a tank of that size. The tank builder will have to come from Sydney or Melbourne and that will increase the cost...

Hi BI,
Well, I bit the bullet today and bought a NSLU-2.
I have bought it because I am going to venture down the road of a setup like yours (with other features too!) but I'm also about to do a...

With the H2O2, you may be able to get it at a chemist.

H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide. Becareful with it.
A quick update on my tank too.

 Solder is typically 63% tin and 37% lead for eutectic or perfect ratio solder. There may possibly be a small amount of copper (2%) which would take 1% from each other element.
And this is...

I have 4x54 watt T5 HO tubes installed on my 6 foot tank. And they are damn bright! 8-)
I have installed 2 2x54 watt OSRAM electronic ballasts that cost $320 each. Expensive? yes but they are...

By the looks of the first photo, it could be Blue-Green Algae (BGA) which is not an algae, it's actually a bacteria. Just confirm it with the description of algae on the plantgeek website and you...

I only run 4 x 54 Watt T5's on a 6 foot by 2 by 2 and I'm very impressed with the amount of light they punch out. They also run a lot cooler than a MH which run hot and can be a problem depending on...

My personal recommendation would be NOT to use it even with a step-down transformer.
Some are motors are built to be optimal at a frequency. ie 60Hz or 50Hz. Changing frquency can be done but...

This is what my tank looked like several weeks after it had been setup.
It passed through this phase a few times so I bit the bullet and purchased a UV. I kid you not, 5-7 days later it was...

Removing him won't be a problem. He practically eats out of my hand when I feed all the other fish. Just slip the net in and he's mine! It's how I transferred him from the other tank just...
