It is a genetic trait that came along with the pidgeon blood genes. It is genetic whether your fish will get it, but yes tank conditions can effect how prominent it is deisplayed on your specimen.

I have got the little ones to wrigglers and they are just about to jump to mum and dad... fingers...

When I got home from work yesterday arvo, one of my discus pairs I'm resting in the Display cube, had decided to spawn on the front glass... so I thought this was too good an oportunity to pass up...

I find a marine blue and a grow red with a white creates the most perfect lighting discus display!
It supplies their scales with all the desirable spectrums for their scales to refract to your...

That small amount of beef heart while the geos grow out should not be too much off a problem.
What your biggest worry would be with putting geos in with discus is that they will often out compete...
