I agree with Bill T, that is interesting.
I have a pair of Red Turks, who would spawn quite frequently, usually after water changes, however, they haven't done this in over 6 months now - and they...

From my (limited) knowledge, i understand the Snakeskins to have 14 bars and very fine delicate patterns around the mouth, nose and gills.
As for barless I'd have no idea how to confirm them...

I'm gonna sound lazy here...
I clean my canister about 2-3 times per year (just whenever i feel like it), and my internal about every 2 months.
I never change any of the media in my filter. i...

dnt,
i agree with merrilyn, when keeping my juveniles, i keep them in a separate tank, with water between 30 - 32 degree celsius and feed them at least 4 times per day - mainly tetra bits and...

I've always had success with frozen bloodworm and tetra bits. That's pretty much all i feed mine. i try to feed more tetra bits than bloodworm, because any rotting meat can really cause havoc with...

Just out of curiosity, when you kept the other discus, did you only have two at a time, or did you have all 7 at once?
I think you'll find they may do better in a bigger group - 6 is a good number...

G'day onesic1,
In my opinion, activated carbon is unnecessary in a discus tank unless you want to remove medications. It is normally used to remove any "discolouration" of the water, however,...

How long have you had them?
I've always found newly added discus will do this for a while (few days), or until they become comfortable - this just depends on size of tank, what other tankmates,...

IMO, no.
However, i know some people suggest "subdued" lighting - from what i've seen, Discus do fine with lots of lighting.

Hey Chris,
I agree with RevKev, start out with some Flourish tabs for the gravel and some Flourish and Flourish Excel. Be careful with the Flourish - better to dose daily (small amounts) than one...

G'day Red Jim,
I once had the same problem - for me, it was excess phosphate problem, i also put in a few Siamese Flying Fox fish.
A few suggestions:
Have you put any fast growing plants in?...

Hello,
Just wondering if some of you more experienced member can answer this question for me - What is the benefit of putting Salt in the Discus tank?
I notice it comes up as a regular...

Hi all,
After some encouragement from others, I thought I'd submit 2 of my own.
**Yes, they are of the same tank, with the RT in photo 2 appearing as a younger discus top centre of photo 1.**

Hi, XPLOSV, welcome to the forum,
Obviously i'm not the most experienced here, but I'd just like to add that with my discus, if they are stressed/frightened, they'll turn a darker colour and back...

Ladyred,
I've been reading your posts on breeding.
I've just had two RTs lay eggs, which hatched yesterday, at which time the parents moved them to a different location in the tank. yesterday,...

Thank you both very much for the compliment! I'll definitely look into the photo comp.
Heidi, the red fish is (I think) a Golden Pigeon Blood. I purchased it around early '04 and to be very...

Ahhh, Ok, yes, great idea, thank you both! (sorry i'm a little slow  )
I'll wrap some wool around the intake.
If they hatch successfully, i'll post some pics (fingers crossed).

Do you mean filter wool with bacteria already on it? I was kind of thinking about this, but again, unsure how it will work.
Thanks for the suggestion, at least it means we think...

Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody can help me.
I've recently set up a 120L breeding tank and transferred two Red Turks to it (who were previously laying eggs in a community tank, but eggs...

I've been using this Seachem Flourish Excel for a few years and it is excellent! Probably the best fertilizer i've ever used. I also use Tetra Flora Pride in conjunction with the Excel.
The only...

Just wondering what strain it is? I've seen something similar called...

One of the things you should do when buying discus is to ask to have them fed and watch them feed. For some reason (i don't know why, have just learnt through others) some discus have trouble seeing...

I think the general rule of thumb is to quarantine for 4 weeks, however, make sure to run the full course of all treatments, even if this takes longer. Best to be safe
