Mike,

Where did you get that breeding pot from. How do the fish like it?

Hi Steve
One of the members here got it for me from Sydney and posted them over, they work really well but I do offer variety. from memory they were about $5 each.
I havent found anywhere in Perth that sells them for so cheap.

Steve, if you are from Sydney, you can buy the pots from Ray Aquarium, Potts Point, in a variety of styles for $5 each. The one that Mike has is exactly the same as what I have, and probably from the same source. My cac has spawned in it twice.

Just thought I'd rehash this thread Mike and find out how they are doing??
I've just had my panduro spawn after a long time without anything from any of my fish. I've almost forgotten what it looks like! I have them in a small tank with a cave like yours and also an Exo-terra cave like Wicked. They choose the Exo every time which is good because I can take the side off and see how every thing is going.

Both spawns are doing well...about 50 I suppose from each one....Ive left them with the parents at the moment as I dont have tank space to move them to just yet.

I've had a few little peeks at the egg situation and mine is ever decreasing. When I first looked there was probably about 25-30 but I think she has been a little spooked by the big guy that takes the wall off her cave! From last count she is down to about 10. Photos to come

Well I can safely say that they are all gone now. I think about 2-3 made it as wrigglers but I think they got snapped up when I took a peek in the cave yesterday. I'm not too fussed about losing them. It's her first time that I know of so not too bad for an L plate spawn.
Here's some pics from the other day

Mike,

That's great effort mate, especially after going through the ordeal of flying across the continent. Pity the aggie is a bit small, probably expect them to reach maturity around mid-end Jan.

They should take around 5 days to hatch, watch out for wigglers now.

Any photos?

Thomas.

My male baenschi from Thomas has a long fine thread coming from his bum. Does that count as a spawn??

Shes spawned in an upturned pot so its a bit difficult to see in there (I got a shock when i had a look a few days ago and saw eggs, wasnt really expecting them) so ive left well alone since then..may have to wait until free swimmers before I know for sure that theyve got through...

What kind of secret formula are you feeding them - was pretty sure these tefe are a bit small for that kind of action.

Are you giving them viagra for fish - only available with your local Vet's prescription :)

Rob,

Is that happening constantly (dragging a thread)? If ti is, I'm concern. Might need some treatment for precaution (picked up some flagylet somewhere).

Not sure why Thomas...I am just a huge manly man...maybe its rubbing off on the fish (although I hope not too much rubs off as I really dont have much manly manness to spare) :D

I had the same problem a little while ago with an Orange Flash so you may be right. Time to hit the whole tank with something. I'm planning on giving the trio thier own tank soon instead of the community tank.
Would that Octozin stuff help with this kind of thing?

i find the change in tank enviroment etc often triggers spwaning

Octozin should take care of it - another alternative is metronidazole (flagyl), you'll need a prescription to get them from your local chemist.

One of the other pairs of A.baenschi has just spawned...Ive pulled these eggs...the first lot from the other pair have gone as have the spawn from the A. agassizi tefe...but I'm not too concerned as the tefes are really small as are the other pair of baenschi. Ive just got one more pair from Thomas of baenschi to spawn for me, they're not getting along as well as the other two pairs but they are settling down, fortunately Ive got a couple of spare males and may swap the males over if aggression becomes too much of a problem...
