Hay Chris,

At this stage I can only import the above listed apist's. I will let every one know if I am able to get any other new apisto's. Most of these fish will be between $40 and $55 dollars each.

Thanks

Thomas, I'm pretty sure all of Rav's Apistos are wild caught unless otherwise stated.

just to change the subject though, the Apistogramma hauswell are the shizzle! check them out!

...the Apistogramma hauswell are the shizzle!

Pretty sure the hauswell are A. maulbruter Chris and if that's the case then I'll be doing a w/e in Melbourne with the esky!!!

There is some confusion over A. hauswell/maulbruter as there are a few different names that have turned out to be these fish.

A. sp. "Frank" = A. sp. "Maulbruter" The later, however, exhibits a richer coloration. By comparison, A. sp. "Frank" is fairly drab. Both are mouthbrooders. A. sp. "Frank" should read A. sp. Hauswell.

But then this

A. sp. Frank is one of those terrible names. The first time I saw it was when Aquarium Lima pictured a highly retouched photo of A. elizabethae as "A. sp. Frank". I've also seen photos of A. sp. Papagei/Parrot (Morado/Purple color form) that had been sold as Frank.

Looking at that list, it looks impressive but it sounds outdated and there are a lot of "double ups" or trade names ie same fish different name

A. Albertini= A. eunotus "orange tail"
A. sp. "Galaxis" should be A. sp. "Papagei" and even "Algodon"

Apistogramma Marine= What the....?

Still it'd be good to get a few more good apistos into the country

I agree.. some of these names are not used in the industry any more.

However since I am not an "Expert" in the dwarf cichlids I have simply cut and pasted the Peruvian suppliers price list :)

Apologise for any confusion caused.

That fish is one Apistogramma uaupesi.

Cheers,

Yes - uaupsei. But there are different quality ones. One I picked up recently had hardly any red on them. Nothing like what's in the picture.

Gday Chris,

If you are looking for Noberti. Heinz will be able to help you. I think he may be able to provide adult pairs. As for the A. maulbruter, they were import by SLS on one of their first shipments last year. Apparently there were very little interest and it took them a while to sell them.

Thomas is quite correct in that there are A. uaupesi with little red colouration. It seems that A. uaupesi can vary quite dramatically between specimens.

Quote from Datz South American Dwarf Cichlids

Males highly polychromatic; intensity and distribution of red on the gill covers and caudal fin markings varies from specimen to specimen.

Cheers,
Vien.

Don't get me wrong Rav, I'm far from an expert too! I've seen that list before somewhere and every time it appears on a forum people go nuts.
Just shows how apisto-deprived we are I guess:)

Hay Oska,

The fish are suppose to come to Indonesia this weekend from Peru. I will post a list once my supplier have them in Indonesia after all the DOA. Unfortunately for all those people who are waiting for "Hauswell" I could not order them in this shipment. Maybe in the next shipment!

I still got quiet a few of those Ap. Double red's in store. Come and check them out! They are really good quality and in excellent condition

Thanks

Nope...I phoned both today and neither will let you carry on the fish...you can as far as i can tell have them travel with you in the hold (of course your not in the hold with them) but just not in the cabin..

It is really questionable about their reasons why aquarium fish is not allow on domestic flight. The only real reason I can think of is freight is business for the airline and impose this rule means more business for them.

I've had styrofoam box checked in on flight between Mel -> Sydney without any issue (although the staff do ask their supervisor for authorisation).

Mike,

Sorry I missed your call. PM me if you want to get any info on these fish.Or you can call me on the weekend between 11.00 and 5.00 As for sending the fish interstate, I can organise all that. You will have to pay the fright cost which wont be too much.

Speak soon
