Hey,

Just wondering what other books people have or have seen that collates extensive details on our friends, the dwarf cichlid.

I recently got a copy of the DATZ SA dwarf cichlid book and thought it was pretty good. Just wanted to know what other helpful books there are on the market.

Cheers,
Kev

P.S. Not limiting this to just Apistos

Is the Aqualog just eye candy?

I haven't seen one myself but been told they generally just contain images and not so much helpful info??

That's pretty much spot on - pictures after pictures. Really good quality but lacks technical information.

Romer's Atlas is very good but a bit old now, but definitely worth having. There is also a new updated version coming out, I think middle to late next year. The Aqualog South american Cichlids 2 is very similar to the DATS book.

The book - "south american dwarf cichlids"
by Hans J Mayland and Dieter Bork
pub. by Verlag A.C.S Glaser Germany
that apisto-nut mentioned is a good little book, not as big or as detailed as Romer's Atlas though.

You should be able to find some info on these books on amazon.

Well well well!

If you apisto nuts dont own a copy of the Mergus Cichlid Atlas vol 1 then you are crazy!

This book is stunning! Over 1300 pages packed full of excellent infomation and stunning Photo's!

This book gets bens 10/10 score!

No point doing a big review as you should already own this book or be buying it after you read this!

$75 is a bargain - I paid $80 for mine back in 01 (think that's when it first landed in Australia) through a private bulk buy arrangement.

oh man, the baensch cichlid atlas is the shizzle! It arrived yesterday and it's been so difficult to put down.
I haven't ever seen anything written that is so specific. It has all the background of native ecology etc. pictures and pictures and pictures of different phases, states and signals.
I could rave on about it, but I won't, this one's a definite must-have for novice and seasoned dwarf-nut alike!!!

get a copy if you can!

According to people from apistogramma.com it is suppose to be a totally new one.

ASA will have the Cichlid Atlas I as a sale item for December.

37.49GBP = $93.16AUD

ASA price will be around $79.95

Cichlid Atlas II will be the same price but publishing has been delayed and nobody will have it until January or February next year at the earliest

Now this is going to be easy then - ASA is going to make it available.

Unless someone has an account with Pets Pacific (Australian distributor), otherwise this will be the best option.

Another thumb up for ASA :thumb

blue blue on apisogramma.com has a copy, he says that it has come straight from the printers in singapore , rather than via the distributors so was with him quicker?
thats how i took it anyway
he say's this is because he has a relationship with one of the ditributors so they have done him a favour

It should not be long then before they are stocked by all the major suppliers then.

Yep - blueblue is located in Hong Kong and he has posted a few sample pages of the book on the local forum.

Still waiting for his response in getting a browse of the book.
