I have juvie angles in my tank
but one of them seems to be bullying the others (especially during feeding time)
is this behaviour normal and will this result in the other angels being malnutritioned and smaller than the dominant angel

also is there anything i can do to stop this behaviour
any disciplinary action suggestions :lol:

How many angelfish do you have?
What size tank?

Its normal to have a bully AKA dominant fish so there isnt much to worry about IMO ...

i have 5 angelfish about 5-6 cm now
3 clown loaches - 5cm
blackghost knife - 5cm
4 dwarf gouramis- 6cm
1 neon tetra ( all the others died)
and going to add 5 or so guppies
they are in my 6ftx 18 x20 tank
I calculated using the 1cm of fish per 1 cm of tank
and taking into account the full size of these fish

15x3=45cm clowns
15x5=75cm angels
5x4= 20cm dwarfs
1x20=20cm black ghost
5x4cm=20cm guppies
= 180cm
3cm off my tank capacity when they are full grown 183cm tank

Angelfish are definately agressive. You have a school of 5, so that means the agression will be split 4 ways so none of the others should suffer too much from the bully.

Angels are pretty tough, and don't go off into hiding like discus when they are being bullied. Just watch when you are feeding, that everyone gets a fair share, even if it means dropping food into different parts of the tank at the same time.

Just a thought on your guppies. I think you'll find they won't do terribly well in your tank. They prefer the water to be a bit harder than the other fish in your tank. If you keep the water suitable for your existing tankmates, the guppies won't thrive. If you alter the water to be more suitable for guppies, the other fish won't thrive.

Best to have a look at other types of fish that prefer the same soft water, perhaps like harlequin rasboras or something like that.

That's an interesting way of working out the capacity of your tank. Don't think I've seen it done that way before. In reality you have a very light fish load in that 6 foot tank. You could easily add a lot more fish, in fact, double what you have now, and still be well within the capacity of your tank.

you will be surprised less fish does not always mean less cleaning LOL
your going to have to do you water changes as normal and filter maintenance as normal regardless of if you have one fish or ten
i used to think like that , it makes sense but no to your fish

so can i put in more fish without stunting the growth of the current inhabitants
I have gotten around 8 guppies now with teh current fish
im thinking of getting maybe another angel or
2 silver dollars or perhaps a discus if it doesnt affect the growth of the other fish

Hi, a discus will probably not be very happy with Angels as tankmates (angels are a bit too agressive ).... they (discus) also prefer to be in groups of 4 or more...

If you are happy to wait until your juvies grow up then do that....and then if you feel you want to add some more you can....:-)
