Just taken delivery of my new custom made 5ft Aqualina light unit with moonlight (normally a moonlight is not an option on this size).

I have added 1 x 96w & 1 x 55w 10k/Plant (6500k) tube and 1 x 96w & 1 x 55w 10k/4500k plus the Cold Cathode Moonlight (not to be mistaken with the other aqualina moonlight system which is designed for Marine tanks (there should be minimal light affect outside of the tank).

This thing is bright, very bright. Now the tank it is on is nothing spectacular, no plants or anything as the boss of the tank has a thing about anything green... he eats it. But then again, thats what Giant Gourami's do.

The tubes were selected after discussion with the manufacturer, using the 2 tube types that I am, I get a good spectrum range between 4500k & 10000k with peaks in the Red & Blue colour temperature range.

Anyways, some pics...

And all lights on (you can vaguely see the different light temperatures at the foot of the light tube (Red & Blue)).

Also a couple of pics of the moonlight on the Giant Gourami tank... (excuse the mess)

To give you an idea how big Graeme is (Giant Gourami) that tank is 5ft x 2.5ft.

Nice looking moonlight.

I wonder if they have a 7 footer too. I would like to have that on my tank.

Thanks for the review.

boy, that's not cheap. Then again, you get what you pay for. It is really nice looking. My moonlights are not tubes so they create spots in the tank. Don't really have the moonlight effect.

Oh well, there is always something for us to look forward when we have money to spend.

Bear in mind that is AU$ convertd to US$ it is roughly $275

Another thing to factor is the fact that Power Compact lighting is very new down here (to manufacturers & suppliers that is) and still most of the major suppliers are sticking with T5 & MH???

i thnk its quite a good price IMO, considering its quite new to oz and that your getting roughly 302W and its a 5ft system.

Not bad value IMO

They are there???

btw, the price mentioned previously was for a quad 96w 6ft unit...

The 5ft unit is cheaper, even with the moonlight and extra power cord

The problem with not seeing the pics is when you click the link to this topic that Proteus provided in Nathans post on 'cheap metal halide. The pics don't actuall come up when you vist via the link.

The link works fine, there are no error messages on the server logs.

Try refreshing your page as there is no problem on this end using IE or FireFox.

Doesnt matter what way you get to this thread, so long as it is Topic # 8959 the pics are there
