View Full Version : Grass plants?

I've been told that a CO2 system with a gravel heater is required to grow those grass type plants. I've never used a CO2 system and have read about some disadvantages with them, such as cost, crashes, pH nightmares, low O2 levels at night when the plants stop photosynthesising.

Any thoughts/advice please.

Bill, I've got hairgrass plants growing well with a combination of liquid Flourish and Flourish excel, by Seachem. No CO2 on that tank at all, just the liquid ferts. Seems to be doing fine, and sending out runners after a month of being in the tank.

Ohh, lighting in there is nothing special either. Just the normal tank lights, but it's only 20 inches deep.

I grow grass with no substrate heating,But i do have CO2.
IMO Advantage's out weigh the disadvantge's,Cost is a once off, apart from the CO2 bot unless you can get one of your own then it's just a matter of filling it up.
Or can use the flourish line's as suggested work well,The big down side IMO is if you have a tank bigger than a 100 liter then it could add up over time.
