Got any plant tips post them here

I went through a stage of re planting my tank, and although this may not apeal to the purists I think it has worked well for me.

Take a large java fern, or in my case a couple of ferns, get a couple of long pieces of val (only a couple of strands) then bunch it all together and place an elastic band around the base. Put a stone in the middel then wrap some hairy moss stuff ! around the base. now it just sits on the gravel, I have made 5 of these and have sat them around the tank.

Very easy to vacuum the gravel as you can just move them. Very easy to trim them as you just take it out the tank.

I take you don't use Co2 ?

You have chosen your plants wisely if you don't use Co2, and they have responded in kind : )

I see some Crypts in there too.

Nice healthy looking discus too BTW.

I actually do use CO2 more for ph stability than plants, although I run at 6.55pH and 3 deg KH.

I cleared out all the plants as it had been taken over, thus leaving the ferns

Well I guess the Co2 is working in the plants favour too LOL.

They look really good and not a spot of
Algae...from what I can see in that photo.

Cheers,

i just tie my java ferns onto some wood with some string, give it a month with mhs and co2 and they are triple the size and producing lots of offcuts, so start it again
