Hi All,

I currently have a little air pump just bubling air into the tank and nothing else ... is this ok ? should i keep it or scrap it ? Do the discus need it ? does it do anything for them ?

Hi Rob,

do you have any filtration of sorts?

Good airation with out too much turbulence is ideal.

This increases the O2 content in your water.

Just not so good for aquatic plants.

I don't use them any more. I just point the spray bar of my cannister filters up towards the water surface. That creates enough air exchange for my tank.

My water temp is set at 87-88 F all the time, which means less O2 than cooler temps. I have no problems with the Discus.

I don't think you need them as long as you have enough air exchange on the surface of your tank. I find my Discus don't like the air boubling nosie. Neither do I.
