Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of making a DIY sump.

I've got a 72x24x24 (645L) tank sparsley planted with 4 discus and 30 tetras, 1 BN and 3 Corydoras

'm looking at using a 32x18x14 (118L) tankas a sump for this tank.

At the moment I've got a 3000l per hour pond pump that I had been using for water changes lying around that I'm contemplating using.
Would this be too much flow for a tank this size?
I expected it to have a head height of around 1M so the flow rate should be < 3000lph.

I've currently got two 20mm overflows constructed with PVC but they flow barely 1,000lph so I'm going to a 50mm setup this weekend to get enough flow...

Inside the tank I'm intending to use a catch drip tray/spreader with filter media to get the large stuff and then have water dispersed over approx 25litres of bio balls.

Would a setup like this be sufficient for my tank size? Or alternatively is it overkill?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers
Ant
