Bristlenose

Hi all ,

I got some bristlenose in my community tank that i want to remove due to damage to plants. My tank is 4 X 2 X 2 and its a hassel trying to catch them in a planted tank. Do you guys have any idea/trick to catch them easier ?

Also, what algae eater would you recommend for a planted tank that wont eat/damage the plants ??

Are you sure its the bristlenose eating holes in your plants?

I have never had that kind of problem before.

what other fish do you have in there?
What plants is it eating? All of them or just a certain species?

My guess is snails...!

put a piece of pvc with a cap on one end in the tank with a few algee wafers in it

watch and wait for the fish to go in

take out the pipe

Hi, I have no snail in my tank.

Other fish : discus , neon tetra , siamase flying fox , and few corys

yeah I saw many times the bn sucking on the leaves....

damage on all leaves, no particular one.

Do you guys now other catfish that dont eat/damage plants ?

How big r ur bn??? If u want someone to take them off ur hands just give me a buzz ( just pm me LOL )

Never had bn eat my plants..well ive never seen them at it....though i did have to throw a plant out coz it had holes in its leaves and i only had bn and some jewelfish in the tank along with one or two snails...

Maybe not sure if i have any yet..................... :)

LOL mcloughlin2 i will just remove them to my bare bottom tank :p they're about 8-10cm

It may be a nutrient defitency rather than BNs.

royal whiptail are also good. and a nice size. we hav royal whiptails in our planted display tank at work and the other planted display tank and they r very gentle on plants. plus i hav some at home in my tank and they dont damage my plants either.

Hi all just bought some ottocinclus today they're quite cheap only $4.50 each...

I love them when they clean the glass, stay together...
