Dr.V,

I have been looking at Sera kits and also JBL kits. I want an accurate KH kit as I have a PH controller on my tank and I need to know my KH level so I can get a CO2 level of about 30 ppm.

I prefer the JBL kits as the colour chart is easier to differentiate.

Other than that you can get electronic testers, but I do believe they are not cheap.

I use Sera and have no trouble with them !

I would suggest you get a permanent or long term CO2 test moniter. Sera Dupla Ehiem ect ect they all make one and they do the same thing. You still have too check manually, with the chart for your Co2 levels by doing a KH and PH test but not as often.

I think some people are also a bit confused with how many mg/l of Co2 they need 30 is good at KH of 10 degrees which is high. If your KH is between 5-8 degrees Kh you are better off having 14.7 mg/l 17.7 and 24 respectivly. Please use a graph/chart such as this one LINK (http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.petfish.net/gallery/albums/album05/khphco2_eqn1.thumb.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.petfish.net/gallery/album05&h=91&w=100&sz=7&tbnid=ICCjRHufUa4J:&tbnh=70&tbnw=77&hl=en&start=172&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dco2%2Bchart%26start%3D160%26svnum%3D1 0%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN)
and try to stay in the optimum range the green zone rather than shooting for a number. Trust me your plants and fish will love you for it.
