For breeding discus like soft water so kH 3-4.

6dkh is a bit too high, you might want to use peat moss there ??

In sydney, the kH straight from the tap is about 4, then after few hours it drop to 3.

For community tank, I stop at pH level only. Never measure the carbonate hardness level.

actually.... at Kingsford it is 1.5, and in the Sutherland Shire, I am lucky to get a reading of 1 some days. (which means more frequent water changes and the addition of buffers to keep things stable, normally it is 2-3)

I got 2 different reading from two different taps at home Pro.

From kitchen kH is 4.

And from garden kH is 2.

Don't ask me why !!

Maybe it has something to do with the pipes. I'm going to check my garden tap and see what KH it is. Ours out of the kitchen is virtually zero! almost 1. It would be great if the garden tap had a higher KH
