15 years ago I got an reverse flow undergravel "filter". For those that don't know what it is it is a grate that goes under the gravel just like the gravel filter however in one corner it has a 1"dia riser tube. You pump a small amount of water down this tube from your filter and it enables water flow up through the gravel. ie it keeps warm water under your gravel and up through the plant roots. No crap collects under the grate as its clean water being sent down and the gravel is kept alive. Am I still sold on the marketing hype when I bought this 15 years ago....It was sold for planted aquariums only.
