Hi guys, i've been reading most of hex problem here in this section. I manage to get some Metro today. I was told 1 tablet treat 30L. And also he told me that I put 3 tablet for my 90L tank for 1st day, another 3 for 2nd day, and another 3 for 3rd day. NO WATER CHANGE DURING THIS TIME. Also wait until 8th day, then do 25% w/c .

This is completly different from what i've read. Most member suggest w/c when adding new dose.

So, whose instruction should i follow ???

Thanks all

You should have done a water change before hand.

Once you start dosing dont change the water on the first 3 days.

Okay, I can see the convusion.

The information I have came for a recent scientific paper that has revised the treating of Metro in the tank.

The dose is given every 12 hours.

30% water change before the next dose.

Repeat every 12 hours for 3 days

Dose rate is 250 mg per 40 litres of tank water.

Keep the lights out.

In resistant cases, you may need to continue for 5 days.

she obviously said wc between dosage is there any point to ask the same question again?

just think ..would you stop doing wc for 8 days with sick discus? that just doesnt make sense!! or maybe he meant to say come back in 8 days to buy new discus here

Hi Dr v

I'd follow LR and Cam, stick to one thing rather than jump back and forth.
HTH

Ps: Thoguth I let u know I have been treating my fish with metro too. And my fish started picking the food today phuuu!
What I did was 5 days dose and left the temp like that for 1 more week, and tomorrow is exactly 7 days I stopped Med.

i been doin this too, got one dosage left.. 2/3 discus seem cured
cant see the third one's poos yet..

If there was a slight irregularity (give or take a couple of hours) in the time between dosages, can it drastically alter the success of treatment?

hi benny from what i can gather metro in water is just about gone in 8 hrs weve been redosing ever 12 hrs so an hour either side should be ok. but i could be wrong LR will know shes the guru on metro

You're right Axel. An hour or two either side is not going to make any difference. Just remember, lights out. Metro is damaged by light.
