Hi Guys,

You might think this a very odd question to ask on here but I'm trying to help someone very close to me and she is having one hell of a time of it. I will post a copy of an email I have just sent to one of the top sugeons in Australia. We're after contacts in the Neuro Peadiatric field both here or overseas.

Dear Sir,

I am writing on behalf of my sister in law who has a 9 year old son who was involved in a car accident just days prior to his birth. As a result of the accident Cameron had trauma at birth, low ABGAR scores and fetal distress. As a 9 year old he has speech problems, mild intellectual delay, anger disorders, ADHD and a few other related problems.

My sister in law has been fighting the insurance company of the “other driver” for 8 years and, although many of the specialists she has been to see over that time are privately sure that his problems are directly due to the accident, they will not put pen to paper because of the possible legal ramifications. Unfortunately 2 out of the 3 top specialists working in this area in Australia are working for the insurance company against my sister in law.

I would be extremely grateful if you could point her in the right direction as she has recently been told that unless she is able to access a specialist that is willing to stand by their opinion (in writing or in court) then it is almost certain she will lose her case, her home, business and any other assets she may have due to the “other” sides legal fees. And all because a Mother stands up for her son and what she believes in.

From a lay mans point of view this situation is absolute garbage! I know the child well and it is absolutely obvious he has many problems that have been proved clinically to not be genetic or passed through family, he most certainly got them from somewhere. We would be grateful for any information on specialists in this area that she is able to access and obtain professional opinions on Cameron’s problems. I simply shake my head in disgust when I see the future of a child being dictated by some pen wielding executive sat on the 30th floor of some building in Martin Place, Sydney, it should never be allowed to happen.

Signed

Any info would be very much appreciated, clinging to straws here.
