*** Subject : Your Fish ***

Competition commences on the 1st of May 2005, and concludes on the 30th of June (2 months). At that time a shortlist will be created and a poll put in place to determine the winner.

There will be a prize which is yet to be finalised.

Each member can enter a maximum of 3 times, if you make it to the final shortlist, you will be expected to submit another current photo of the fish to verify that the image is yours (possibly with a current newspaper or magazine clipping to verify ownership - depending on the prize value).

The "Your Fish" photo, can be of any species, however bonus points will be added (to get it to the shortlist) if it is from the South American region (i.e. Discus, Apistos, Rams etc)

Thanks, & good luck.

Wow, this is great! First prize could be a new BMW car or something similar! No only joking!

I cant wait till someone puts up a Picture or 3 to get the Ball rolling.

I need some sort of benchmark!

Hi Ben,

Good suggestion!

I will do that soon, that is an oldish pic and I didn't have the time to edit it. I still have the original high quality pic so will do a new edit fromthere which should emphasise the fish more.

I really just wanted to get the ball rolling. Don't think I can really win much seeing as I'm all the way on the other side of the Nullarbor haha.

Cheers

Hey, this is Jaws. He thinks he is a Great White shark, at least he eats as messy as one. On of my first ever discus fish. Got him in Oct 04. I think he is still a juvey, can't get rid of the stress bars. The red in his finnage has only developed in the last few months. He is in a bare bottom \ potted plants 285l with built in wet\dry.
He has almost doubled in size since i purchased him. Another of his mates (runt) has not grown at all, but provides a great yardstick for this fellow. He is about 10cm head to tail.

Well, in the absence of the boss man (who is busy playing at Disneyland), I have made an executive decision to have TWO categories *runs and hides before Proteus catches me*

So the first category is for fish only picture, either one fish or several fish in a group.

Second category is full width tank shot.

A winner will be chosen from each category and prizes awarded (which Proteus is donating  )

Ooooops - gotta dash - he runs fast for an old bloke

David and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

Oh I should add the blue diamonds and the tangerines are my very first discus from pups (a year ago), and they, as couples have spawned in my tank in the last week. No babies unfortunately, but atleast I know they seem happy with their home.

And the Red Turqs are an old breeding lot from Malaysia I believe, from SLS, which are in retirement.

The fish which i entered in this comp is within this bunch. ( his tail is damaged due to a fin rot problem he had )

My Discus ambition is to get a tank full of 2 inch versions and see how they develop. Many people dont think much of them as they arent techinically "perfect" melons but ill always find room for them.

The cover on the right is lillapeosis grass (sp?).
Only put it in there last week, so its still anchoring itself.
From what ive read it doesnt grow that high, but spreads out in a mat by runner. Interesting stuff but it looks the goods.
The other plants are mainly Blue Strica, a few varieties of anubias and some Hygro (not sure what type but it looked nice in the shop :D )
