I just bought 4 of them and need help to find more info on the species. There is not any good / reliable info out there on the net.

I saw a couple of youtube videos posted by Mattzilla, they are beautiful species with those pearls along their body.

Anyone with more knowledge on this please? thanks

Awesome fish quite a few of us here have them/have kept them, bassicly there isn't much to know, they eat just about anything that sinks, like about an inch or so of sand, seem to appreciate softer water (bout ph of 6-6.5) but will tolerate a wide range of conditions, i keep mine at 27-28C.

there was a link that Matt or someone put up in the geophagus section that might help you.

rio brancos

dead easy to keep and breed

as everyone said above really.

males are bigger when mature with a steeper sloping forehead.

best way to sex is to see breeding tubes

they don't get up to 40cm but i have seen up to about 20cm
