Look at newcomb sand and soil on the bellarine hwy. They had some white river sand that was very fine, didn't cost much from memory. But did need a bit of rinsing.

There is a sand that they are using for Tanganyikans, and I have seen it labelled as moon sand/dust. I'm not certain if it is Silica, but it would not hurt to ask around. It was very fine when I last handled it.

The other option is play-sand from Bunnings. I've used it in some of my tanks and I found it quite fine, but not exactly caster sugar fine.

Cheers,
Vien.

We're using washed playsand from Bunnings and it's great. Not exactly pure white, more light beige, but looks very natural, the fish like it and snorkel around in it for food.
