hey mate awsome fish,
what is the discus in the second pic, ive been researching discus for quite a while and keeping an eye on the forums for info, but i think im ready to get a couple i loveeeeee those ones :D :D

Hi thanks for the compliments everyone.

The discus in the second pic if I'm not mistaken was sold to me as a Coari red spotted green, F4 generation. It came to me a lot more colourful than I expected from a fish derived from wild stock. Having said that its amazing the colour variations coming from the wild these days...

If you are just starting out with discus the most important thing is to get good stock. I just got a bunch from Rod and they are awesome. They literally began eating out of the bag after more than 24 hours in transit.

I would however suggest if you are not going to have a bare bottom tank to start out with non pigeon blood based discus as in my experience they are clumsier with food and their growth rate may suffer.

I love spotted fish too and the prices are coming down fast... So they would be a great first choice :)

The background is just one of those plastic sheets with the pics of plants on it but the plants in the foreground are real ;)
