Just another question.
Can u get amano shrimp in Australia?
The quarantine in australia seems to be very strict.
Does anyone know if Amano shrimp or Ghost shrimp is sold in Australia?
(P.S I don't want illegal imports)
Thanx in advance.

I think you can get ghost shrimp in AU, are ghost and glass shrimp the same thing?? because i know people have told me before you can catch glass shrimp in some of our waters. I dont know wait for one of the aquarium members they would have more of an idea on importing laws.

Amano shrimps (Cardina japonica) are not available in Australia.

Ghost shrimp that we get in Australia are not algae eating...

some people have posted positive results from using ghost shrimp (Aussie) on algae, but as to the specific species and location, i can't help you :P

I think importing inverts like that must be difficult?

Oh..Too bad then,
I just thought the amano shrimp will look good in my tropical tank.
And the algae eating feature is more than just a plus.
Do you have any alternatives as to what other shrimp might be good in a tropical tank and is available in australia?
(yabbies are big no no..By the look in their eyes, i am sure they will kill no only your fish, they will also eat you..lol)

I just scoped them up in a net in the shallow rapids in the Maclay when I was a teenager........Then I went fishing

I think you would find them in most claen rivers in Eastern Aus
