Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and thought I would share a few of my pics.. if you can identify what type of discus's they are I would really appreciate it.. I've been keeping discus's for about 3 months now so I'm still pretty much a newbie as far as they're concerned.. I hope you enjoy the pics!

Hi Lisa, nice assortment of flatfish you have there!

I think the stripey red ones are Red Turquoise, you have what appears to be a Blue Turquoise as well. The all red could be a few different kinds, I'm not sure exactly which it is. The solid blue/green with a hint of striping is what was sold to me as a "Brilliant Green"...there are soooo many different colour morphs, and some that are the same are called different names in different areas.

Lisa,

Like the blue see through rocks in your tank, they look pretty cool.

The small red one is probably to young and small to identify what it is.

The red ones with more bars on the appear to be red snakeskins and there is another one with less strips that probably came out of the same lot of parents which is a red turquoise. This is the normal offspring from red snakeskin parents. The blue or green colour one i will not attempt, but it is interesting that it has the markings on its fins of the Wild strain of discus showing ( black strip ). I am a bit colour blind so i would have said it was a blue diamond attempt that has gone wrong. They rename them as something new and people snap them up, but neverless they are still good fish to look at. :D

Oh well that just my $0.02 worth.

Keep up the care you appear to be providing as they all look like they are going well.

On closer looking at the pictures. It seems that the red one is maybe stuck in the same spot on a skewer or something as it is always in the same spot, an has the same pose. Your worried about the crystal that looks like a discus. So perhaps there two ghost fish in this tank?

All fish looking into the crystal ball....

Pretty easy ID of fish if you ask me...
ur largest is a snakeskin (Snakeskin is just a mutation of 14bars instead of the original 9bars.... this mutation somewhat makes the striations finer.).

The other fish in the back (also with 14bars), is also another snakeskin.

.... as to wihich variant of snakeskin, only time will tell.

The fish above your largest snakeskin is a Red Turquoise... no doubts about that.

The blue one on the right is a cobalt blue..... The cobalt blue variant was the predecessor to the modern day blue diamond. It still posses the striations on the head and fins.

Lastly the little orange fella...
I'm tempted to say marlboro red (classic indicators, some striations on the bottom fin and black bar on wrist of tail)... but it could also be a pumped up with colour enhancer young pigeon. How long have u had this fish for?
It could be the picture, but the fins and tail look like they are yellowish.... :?....

I like the large snakeskin and the cobalt blue the best....
Keep up the good water regime and the water will keep your fish...

good luck

thanks all for the responses.. as for the purple thing it's a rock/crystal type thing.. the little orange one we've only had for a few days now.. when we took that picture we were kind of worried about him because he didn't do much swimming and his fins were always down etc.. he's looking great now swimming with the rest and what not.. I'll see what I can do about getting somemore pics in the near future.. :D
