Hello Everyone!

After reading numerous articles about the fishless aquarium cycle (Chris Cow for example) I've decided to give it a go. However, unlike most people I have pharmacutical grade ammonia (25% no additives) but no reliable place to get a starter culture for my tank. My lfs is unreliable (diseased fish, etc..) and I know of nobody who has an established tank. Therefore, is it still possible for the cycle to begin sans established tank rocks, plants, filter media etc..? From what I can gather, it is possible but will take up to 8 weeks to do? Am I right, any advice? Thanks a million.

It is possible and ive done it in about 4-5 weeks, I would never get seeded items from a lfs better from a hobbyist.

But yeah it can be done..

It's faster with seeded items, I use stuff from my own tanks all the time. I wouldn't trust any external source. Much better to start from scratch and wait the extra few weeks. As far as I understand it, it should take 4-6wks rather than 8.
