Hi All
I am new to this forum so here goes question number1
i want to try to mix my own discus food....there are many suggestions by breeders on the web, they all mention to use "beef heart" as one of the components. i have tried 6 local butchers and non have it, probably because they buy the beef we eat already cut-up. i am thinking of substituting with "pig heart" or "sheep heart" but am not sure if this can cause possible problems... does any-one know?
i have 8 baby (3 months old) pidgeon bloods and simply :P love :P them.

you can use pig or sheep heart but they are smaller and that makes it much harder to cut out all the fat. cutting out all the fat is EXTREMELY important when making food for discus. they cannot handle animal fat like that and it will make them sick. ask for ox heart (it's the same thing) at a good butcher and you should be right.
