Hi all

Came across this thread yesterday and am really impressed. I am from South Africa and have sold all my hybrid varieties to keep only wild discus. Hopefully one day I will be lucky enough to breed them. Problem is that they are really hard to come by in this country.

Hi Henrik

Thannks for the kind words. I have sort of gathered them from wherever I can. As I mentioned we struggle to get wild discus into South Africa, a supply and demand issue, but those were collected from two wholesalersand two LFS's. I also recently imported some wild discus via Holland.

Fantastic looking fish Rowland. You've done a great job collecting them.

Love the red eyes on the heckels but I think that wild brown has to be my favourite.

I've been looking for decent wild browns here in Oz, but they're not easy to find.

What are you feeding your fish, and what temp are you running.

Thanks Merrilyn. That wild brown is my favourite too....I have two of them. Must say they look like Alenquer type fish the more I look at them.

I run my systems at 28/29 degrees celsius, it gives me some room to go up a bit should I need to. I vary their diet with the following:
My own beefheart mix, a garlic and onion beefheart mix from Germany, tetrabits, discus granulate from Germany, bloodworm, artemia, cyclops, flake, spirulina flake.

Hi Rowland

Your doing a great job with them, honestly ….I’m in envy and every time I see them I’m motivated some more, they are stunning.
