Hey Jim,
You should try wilds someday. They're more interesting and more challenging.

kevkoi,
Do you ship those wilds to Singapore? We don't have much variety here. I normally get my wilds from Malaysia. keep my informed will ya......

dreamer,
There are only a handful LFS that bring in wilds and the strains are limited too. The most common ones that they bring in are Alanquer Royal, Blueface Heckel, Tefe Green and not-so-spotted Red Spotted Green................

The reason why I don't bring heckels is that they do not breed in tanks (B*TCH to BREED!! So not much point for breeders). But hey, anything is possible.... I do what I can.

i know how hard is to spawn heckel .... but i just want them in my collection .... so breeding is not no 1 priority ....keeping them alive is :)

Kev, how old do you estimate those fish are?

kevkoi

No idea mate... They're not OLD fish. (Old and sick fish get picked off by the piranhas!).

Piranhas are noxious fish in Australia. SLS will not condone the trade in noxious fish.

dreamer,
Heckels are really something. I have to agree with you that keeping them alive and healthy is an ultimate challenge. Hopefully more will come in to syd.

Very nice. I'll get some when I have enough experience, maybe in 5-6 years. They've come a long way so I want to trip to be worthwhile for them...

Errrm, how about one pair is actually SPAWNING in the tanks today?! The pH on the system is currently sitting at 7.12 (electronically tested today!) and these wilds are spawning!!

Should get a picture of them with eggs 2morrow.

It probably because they have never been fed so well in their lives. Food is plentiful

D@RN! I get in, camera in hand and I notice that their tank mates are upside-down catfish.... and the eggs missing from the standpipe and some fat catfish :( .

Oh well, next time they do it, I'll be ready with the camera.

How did you manage to get them so healthy? Long quarantine?
