Come on guys/girls we all know it's a natural progression. You start with gold fish move to guppys add a few BN's and work up to discus.
Once you have discus you realise they are nice to look at but boring so naturally you decide marines is the next step in this hobby and you take the plunge.
Those who take the plunge don't look back and wonder why it took them so long. :P
So come on guys lets all take the plunge and turn this great site to a marines site with a small discus section. 8-)

thats look great dee.

how do u find the clown fish gets along with the other tankmates? any fights?

just wondering if u could post some details, like tank inhabitants (the fish, red line cleaners etc)

that wouldve cost an absolute mint, but definitely worht it i reckon, you gonna run a chiller for it?

im still stocking my tanks, havnt had any new additions for a few weeks now (bit low on the money).

its lookin awesome. do u find the extra powerheads bennificial?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the positive comments, appreciate it ! There's some more tweaking and corals to go in, but so far it's coming along well.

RobDog,

Still hanging to see a pic of your rig mate, I'm sure it's coming along nicely !!!

Hiya Nathan,

I had no problems with the clownie, he's a great lil character. The Flame runs the tank, but the clown stands his ground with him.

Yeah it hasn't been a cheap exercise, but I have been lucky with picking up some good stuff. As for a chiller, I'm not sure yet mate ... will have to wait till next summer, they are sooooo expensive

The extra power heads serve thier purpose well, the NanoStream works well by supplying circulation through and behind the bommie. The mini powerhead up top works well giving the Acro's a lil more circulation around them.

Stock -

1 x Flame Angel
1 x Royal Gramma
1 x Six Line Wrasse
1 x Percula Clown
2 x Red Line Cleaner Shrimp
2 x Dwarf Hermits
4 x Trochus Snails
2 x Feather Duster Worms

Coral's -

Acropora
Elegance
Hammer
Torch
Lord Howensis
Balstomussa
Favid
Various Morphs
Various Zoo's
Open Brains

I think that's it

Cheers,

Dee.

Is the RSM a complete unit ie filtration and lighitng as well or what set up do you run?

Nathan
Tue May 22, 2007, 12:52 PM
its a complete setup, comes with built in filtration, skimmer, comes with heater (i replaced it and im using eheim jager heater) and comes with really good lighting an moonlighting (my moonlighting is stuffed though)

most ppl modify it slightly, as dee has done, hes added 2 powerheads an ill definitely be adding a powerhead, i replaced the heater with a better quality one, also the filtration sponges it comes with ive had to cut down by a lot otherwise the water doesnt pass through them quick enough

I'm almost at the point of throwing my heater out. I haven't even switched it on yet. My temp reads at about 26.9 at it's coldest and 29 at the top of the scale. And my upgrade fans have never turned up from Old Mate Redsea Guy :( Whinge over now

Nathan
Wed May 23, 2007, 06:06 AM
did u buy the fans, how much were they? yeah my tank stays quite warm aswel, gonna be interesting in summer, are you using a chiller rob?

the lights pretty much heat the tank

Robdog
Thu May 24, 2007, 01:00 AM
Nah no chiller and didn't buy any fans. The dude from RedSea said he was sending them to me but that was back in April.

Saw my tank temp at 26.2 this morning at 6am! Maybe if I leave all my doors and windows open at night and sleep in the oven I might get it down to 25

Thu May 24, 2007, 07:52 AM
How much are the units may i ask?

Robdog
Thu May 24, 2007, 09:06 AM
The cheapest I've seen is through ASA for around $1200 all up.

Namn8r
Fri May 25, 2007, 01:27 AM
do they only run 2 x HO tubes? Is that enough lighting for the corals over the long term?

Robdog
Fri May 25, 2007, 04:30 AM
Dunno about the longterm but you don't need a heater with them on
