Aquarium is not that large. The dimensions are (sides) 87 x 87 x 65 cm height. This is corner tank. The maximum amount of water and minimum occupied space. It looks like a quarter of a cylinder. Sadly, we have only 5 heckels left. One we lost by an accident, the other one died because of "mad discus" swimming. I wrote about that in "Illness & medication" section;

Update about our heckel's
Fish are after treatment on Ichtiosporidum hofferi and their aquarium was totally disinfected. During treatment they spend two months in sterile fish tank and were given additional 4 week long salt bath according to Andrew's treatment for oddinium.
Aquarium matured for 10 weeks, therefore time came on to return to their "little house". Fish look satisfied though this interior look is not yet such pretty as the previous one. One thing worries us a bit; fish which once "went crazy swimming" in March, she had attack day before yesterday, and now it swims like nothing would trouble it. It is the fish which has visible non healing wound on dorsal fin. This wound cant heal science arrival in January
Pictures done without flash , to reproduce the best climate they have.

Hi
We decided to send this heckel to a discus show in Italy at the end of the month. The fish is about 18 cm. Do you think it is a good choise?

Hi
I forgot to let you know what happened at the Italian show. Heckel went there and came back with.............nothing. German judge disqualified all heckels, because of their red eyes. In his opinion, heckels must have black eyes and that's it!!! He said, that all fish shown are royal blues. End of the story!!!! Heiko Bleher was there ( us an observer) and he just couldn't belive what was going on. I hope you will not invite that judge to Australia!!!! This is a tread to show results. At the bottom of that page you will see all fish at the competition

We done some changes to heckels tank. Removed all plants, add more driftwood, peat moss, bits and pieces of wood and floating plants. Heckels just love it :D

Hi
Little up date onour heckels.
We have lost one :( .
This heckel arrived last year with a little wound on the dorsal fin. We have tried everything possible on that wound (looked like a cigarete burn), but it was growing biger and biger and finaly cut thruough the fin, later fin broke completely, and that was it. Heckel lost the battle.
Out of four that are left, there id a pair 100%.
In may the pair was dancing, shivering, shaking and cleaning root.
It was going on for 3 days and...............stoped.
Maybe next time....................

I think you have the nicest heckels I have ever seen Barbara.

I really hope that pair breed for you.

Please keep us informed :P
