I pinched there eggs!

Become tired of seeing these guys lay there eggs then get them or get them to wrigglers/free swimmers and then eat them. so this batch I let them lay the eggs on the plant and took mum and dad out. That was 3 days before xmass wigglers on 23rd and free swimmers on the night of boxing day :D Fry are doing realy well and already I notice a marked growth in them.

Great news, i hope you will succeed with the fry....feed them fresh brine shrimp 3 times per day at the start and they will grow well......cheers,

thanks for the advice but never had much luck useing fresh brine shrimp but had better luck doing the old boild egg yoke trick they still grew up nice and strong 8-) and then switching to powered colour bits after 2-3 week

well yesterday the angels chose when nothing about try the wall :roll: more eggs and had moved them to another tank I realy have to get something for them to breed on soon instead of the amazon sword or the side of the tank. I wish the dad wouldn't eat the eggs cause i think mum would look after them alright

I'm very much into "if somebody else wants to do the hard work let them!"
but sometimes its just me lol :roll:

keep on trying......maybe introduce another object in the tank for them to explore, and remove the plant they are used to, it may help.

show you some of mine.....8 weeks old today......i have 3 lots more after these ones

have heaps of fry left some are died the first lot I have 13 left LOL I'm still learning but having better save rate with the second batch comming up to the 3rd week with the first lot and the second week for the second lot. the 3rd lot of eggs were eaten I divided the tank up so I had the eggs on one side but the buggers worked hard and went through and ate every one of them.

I no longer breed Angels but when I did... firstly, get the eggs away from the parents, they'll eat more than they raise. Secondly, feed them dead food and you'll get between 1 and 50 survive, feed them live food (brine shrimp) and you'll get 600 a batch. Problem is, now get rid of 'em!

you could say that with any fish you breed at home I had a huge mass of pearl groumi and found after 3 months of trying to sell them to the shops they were not keen then in 2 days I had call after call for them! go figure :roll:

Hi everyone,

Unfortunatly it is difficult to sell small angels, mostly because wholesalers fear angel fish disease which often afflicts young angels kept in less than ideal conditions. The current wholesale price is about 50 cents for a three centimeter angel of any type (except Altums). Most angels only become egg eaters if water conditions are less than optimal. Check your PH, my best results were with a PH of 6, conductivity 28 microseimens, temperature 28 degrees C. Feed fry only live brine shrimp. Watch water conditions as fry are very sensitive to any form of polution. Keeping the PH low helps control amonia spikes.

i agree, i tried various ways

most critical time is the first 3/4 weeks, thereafter it seems some dried food is ok if alternated with bs. angels need a lot of looking after during the first weeks, but heh, rewarding in the end.

i found it is no good starting them on some dried food at 10/14 days, much too early 3 weeks is the minimum for higher success rates.

that lot I only ended up with 8 of that one is deformed have new batch of wigglers at the moment so I have made a few changes to what i am doing with this new lot to see if I have better numbers this time.

I have found with mine that more air going over the eggs helps with fighting the fungus as well as 10% water changes. I like to not use any chemicals in the water only as a last action.

so fingers crossed I am hoping when these little buggers get to size I will have a few pairs.
